Our Project in Nepal

Violence Prevention for Women and Young Girls

In Nepal, schools do not provide education about violence prevention. Young girls are unaware of their rights and do not know how to protect themselves or how to act in dangerous situations.

Raising Awareness of Legal Avenues for Domestic Work Abroad for Nepali Women

In Nepal, many women trust illegal trafficking networks. These networks sell women as domestic workers abroad, where they either receive no salary or are paid far too little. It often happens that these women are raped and held captive by having their passports taken away. It becomes very difficult for them to return to Nepal.

Awareness Work Regarding Superstitious Beliefs

In Nepal, it is still common for people to place their trust in shamans. People die because they do not receive proper medical care, instead following the instructions of shamans. It also happens that women are accused of being witches and are blamed for personal misfortunes, illnesses, or deaths. These women are then severely punished and publicly shamed by the village.

Our Work and Goals

We, the Nepalese living in Hessen (Germany), want to raise awareness among the population about these three issues through training sessions in remote villages and public institutions. Our aim is to provide new and positive perspectives, in order to prevent unnecessary exclusion, accidents, or violent crimes in society. These training sessions will be carried out directly on-site by us. The goal is to embed these values and knowledge within society so that they can be passed on to the younger generation.
